Halloween Movie Nights!

It's all out Halloween-mode at the Emley house. Old costumes are all over the living room floor, pumpkins everywhere, and Halloween movie marathons stay on our tv! Seriously. If there isn't a movie already playing on TV, we pretty much have these on rotate:

Also, Netflix has a goosebumps series which has been super fun (and super weird) to watch. If you like having festive snacks with your movies.. then you have to make this popcorn mix! It's so easy and the kids LOVE it!

Festive Fall Snacks

Just pop some white popcorn and put it in a large bowl. Add in broken pretzel pieces and holiday-colored m&ms. Set aside a sheet of wax paper. Melt vanilla candy melts (or white chocolate chips- what we used) in a microwave safe bowl. Drizzle some of the melted candy/chips over the popcorn mixture and gently stir.. drizzle more and keep stirring until it's evenly coated. Quickly pour it on the wax paper in a single layer. Add some fun sprinkles and let it harden. Break apart and serve! We had a lot left over so I made fun individual ziplock bags for school lunches & snacks!

Happy Halloween Weekend!!

We had the most delicious dessert this evening and I couldn't wait to share! I found this blackberry cobbler recipe a couple years ago on The Pioneer Woman's site (I seriously love this woman & her little family,, and her huge ranch.. and all her recipes). It was a huge find for me because.. one: blackberry cobbler is John's favorite dessert, two: it's delicious, and three: the easiest recipe ever! We have it quite often during the summer!

You can find her original post here.

INGREDIENTS:  one stick butter //  one & one fourth cup sugar  //  one cup self rising flour  //  one cup milk  //  two cups fresh or frozen blackberries (we always use fresh).

DIRECTIONS:  Melt the stick of butter. Pour flour and one cup of the sugar into a mixing bowl, whisking in milk. Add in melted butter and whisk it all together. Butter your baking dish. Pour batter into dish. Evenly sprinkle in the blackberries. Sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes (until golden). Optional: sprinkle a pinch of sugar on top 10 minutes before it's done.

That's it! Personally, I believe it's best served warm with french vanilla ice cream & whip cream.. but that's just me! Thank you mrs wonderful pioneer woman for your insanely easy and delicious recipe! Check out her website for many more yummies!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day weekend! For us, this holiday is always filled with family, sunsets, grilling, and water hose play! Tomorrow morning John has his third (and hopefully last) surgery.. so we've really tried to soak up some fun this weekend! On Friday I threw my sister a twenty first birthday party - oh my gosh that was so much fun! More on that later! Then Saturday some of John's family came into town and we had a really nice weekend with them. It's always so nice to see family members that you don't get to see often!
